Who are we…

Filed under: Whisky — will @ 5:16 pm

…and why do you care?

Well, the short answer is I’m Will and he’s Duncan & you probably don’t care that much.

The slightly longer answer is that we are young and enthusiastic scotch whisky drinkers, with the occasional bourbon thrown in for good measure. Come to mention it, last night I had a very nice Japanese whisky, but I think you get the picture.

I got into whisky early on in my adult life because I was on a night out and was looking for something that wasn’t Vodka! I saw a bottle of Laphroaig (sitting on a lighted display getting hot, but that is another story) and remember seeing an advert for it saying it was challenging. Those people who know me well will tell you that’s a bit like a red rag to a bull (incidentally, did you know it is possible to lick your elbow?). Laphroaig is still one of my favourite whiskies, although Duncan will claim that I average about 6 favourite whiskies at any one time.

Duncan had a gentler introduction to whisky, as his Dad (who has helped out a great deal in the early stages of whiskytag) is a keen whisky drinker. Duncan doesn’t remember his first whisky but thinks it was probably a glen grant.

Taking a step back in history, Duncan and I met at school, playing basketball. We have been best mates ever since and we are now directors of our own website design business. We have been drinking whisky together since we were 17, which currently puts us at about 9 years’ whisky experience, however it is only during the last 5 or so that you could class us as enthusiasts.

The long answer is best saved for an evening, with a whisky in hand. So if you ever find yourself bored in London, give us a shout and we might get the first round in.

I still don’t think I know why I should I care?

You still probably shouldn’t, but hopefully six months from now, we might have made a bit of an impression in the whisky world.
